SHOWING, THROUGH ART, HOW THE ORDINARY IS EXTRAORDINARY

Eliza Jaye Kuperschmid (she/her) makes stuff. We're talking plays, screenplays, dramaturgy, directing, producing, photography, playing the flute - you name it, she probably does it (or is at least very willing to watch a YouTube tutorial on how to do it).

In Eliza's work, you'll find “ordinary” characters reckoning with their extraordinary circumstances. You’ll find female characters who demand to be taken seriously. You’ll find big existential questions with small attempts at answers. You’ll find niche locations, liminal spaces, disparate families, internet rabbit holes… And just a dash of humor, always.

Eliza's work has been seen at The Garry Marshall Theatre, The Ebell of Los Angeles, Villa Aurora, and the Los Angeles Museum of Natural History as a Co-Lead Writer for the immersive multi-media theater project, Sacrifice Zone: Los Angeles.

Eliza is a founding member of First Kiss Theatre Company - an indie collective of artists that formed in 2020 as a way to continue to make bold, accessible art during lockdown. Today, she serves as the company's Director of Operations, the Co-Director of the Residency Program, and as a Lead Producer for various events, including FKT’s “Play in a Day.”

Eliza was born and raised in Scotch Plains, New Jersey and really really likes tofu.
