58:39 (4W, 1M)

It's mandatory team building night for the employees of Paradigm Management Consulting, and tonight they're doing an escape room together (how fun!). Founder and CEO, Melinda, believes that this activity is what the team needs to rally together and gain the teamwork skills they clearly lack at work. When the escape room proves to have a mind of its own, it's up to the Paradigm employees to reckon with their behavior in the office and decide once and for all if they can escape oppressive, male-dominated corporate office culture.

tennis lessons  (2W, 2M)

It’s the summer before senior year of high school in suburban New Jersey, and it’s Savannah "Sav" Osmond's last chance to make it onto the varsity tennis team before she graduates. Should be a piece of cake considering her father, Mark, was a former tennis pro and the team’s former coach. Only thing is… Mark was caught in a scandal with one of the girls on the team, and he’s recently deceased, leaving his claw marks in Sav’s present and future. Despite her tumultuous relationship to tennis and to the high school’s team, Sav perseveres, spending the summer preparing for tryouts by taking extra lessons with her private coach, Rich Decker on the court in his backyard. She also spends the summer trying to be as numb as possible, which manifests as a toxic secret situationship with Rich’s dirtbike-rider son, Callum Decker, aka "Decker." Sav and Decker have a lot in common – namely having nowhere else to hang out but a backyard and daddy issues. Speaking of dads… Rich was once a tennis pro too – Mark’s doubles partner – he’s still picking up the pieces Mark left behind, even going as far as to console Mark’s grieving widow Sue, who is trying desperately to connect with Sav, who really just wants to be as far away from what remains of her family as possible. Through rhythmic game play and a theatrical puppeteering of her parents – Sav juggles reconciling her complex father-daughter story, a turbulent present with her mother, and deciding once and for all if she actually likes tennis or not. A coming of RAGE story, tennis lessons is a reminder that we are shaped by the actions and beliefs of our parents, whether we like it or not.

VASHTI  (2W, 2M)

Is it possible to recover something lost to time? Is it possible if the “something” is a woman that does not exist outside of the confines of an ancient story? If it is possible to recover her, is it then possible to dust off the detritus of a millennium of dismissal and over-analysis of her role?

VASHTI is a retelling of the story of the Jewish holiday Purim, its frame is a spiel gone horribly wrong. The Actor Playing Vashti is an actor who would typically be cast in an “Esther role,” while the Actor Playing Esther would typically be cast in a “Vashti role." The more they try to navigate their mis-casting, the actors find that their only way forward is to break out of the play, literally. Meanwhile, the Actor Playing Ahasuerus doesn’t seem to realize he has completely lost himself in the play – he cannot even remember his real name – and Rabbi Pearlman, our “director,” just wants this spiel to go as tradition states. An experimental, absurd, and humorous meditation on gender, religion, and the form of theater itself, VASHTI demands that “lost” women be seen and taken seriously.

STAR MART (2W, 3M)

Star Mart is where Sam works. Star Mart is your classic, good ol' American grocery store run by a hard-ass manager and staffed with misfit high school kids. As the mold takes over, Sam's memory seems to get worse - or is it vice-versa?

It's not until one particular Boyfriend ASMR account, @THEWOLF, catches Bria's ears. Bria and @THEWOLF get to talking - there's no way this guy is real, right? ...
